Third Grade
English & History: This will probably be the easiest to share as I am planning to stick to the Memoria Press third grade. I will be using the charter version of the materials, but some of the components are not yet available there so we will go with the original versions. Note: the copywork, cursive, grammar and some other pieces that you might not think would be religious contain explicit Christian content, so if you are not wishing to use Christian materials, I invite you to review the samples available on the MP website!
Pieces we will definitely be using:
- Traditional Spelling
- D’Aulaire’s Greek Myths
- English Grammar Recitation I (maybe– if I do get this I will get a workbook for my two youngest students)
- Third Grade Literature (we will be doing The Moffats and Mr. Popper’s Penguins)
- Core Skills Language Arts
- IEW (we got a different one of the same level)
- Third Grade Read Aloud Picture books
- Third Grade Read Aloud novels
- Third Grade Supplemental Reading for American Studies
We will also be using various books from The CMEC & Ambleside Online.
Science: Bookshark Level C, we’ve already started this.
Math: Moving Beyond the Page 7-9. We’ve already started this!
Latin: Introduction to Grammar School Latin we started with this in second grade and will continue. I would probably rather have waited until 4th grade or so to start it.
Sixth Grade
History: Bookshark Level G World History
We’ll also be using many books from The CMEC, and some from Wildwood!
Core Knowledge — Independence for Latin America (this is a FREE download) — we may do World Deserts, we’ll see.
Science: Bookshark Level G Earth & Space Science (we’ve already started this)
Blossom & Root Wonders of a Living Earth
Physics from Christopherus— I’m really excited about the demonstrations in this in particular!
I also got Astronomy from Christopherus, but I’m not sure if we’ll get to it.
He will also be reading some titles from Wildwood about Space, and likely the nature study and other science titles from the CMEC!
English: IEW Ancient History-Based Writing Lessons
Memoria Press’s Traditional Spelling VI & Core Language Skills
Math: RightStart Math Level F, then G.
Ninth Grade
English: Stories Unbound: Exploring Fiction, Poetry & Truth (English 9 Program, I shared about here.) The Shakespeare mentioned in there will be done via Memoria Press’s student literature guide.
Science: Memoria Press Modern Biology — they have since switched over to Novare (I believe) so they no longer sell this. But if you are interested, you can find copies floating around.
Math: Saxon Geometry
History: Bookshark American History Level I (I got the guides for the ELA as well, not sure how we will use them.)
Elective: Foundations in Personal Finance
Elective: Probable second level of history, possibly from Beautiful Feet.
Eleventh Grade
History, Science, Etc. Build Your Library Level 11 — world history part 2, historical fiction, living science books, literature, CK12 Chemistry, and whatever else she finds interesting. You can see a big portion of those books in the video below:
Elective: Blossom & Root River of Voices volumes 1&2
Elective: AP African American Studies. I will be teaching, see more about how to do that here. (Many of the books for that are also in the video above.)
English: A combination of materials from Oak Meadow: this, this, and this.
Math: Math U See Algebra 2 & Khan Academy.
Other courses she has already begun working on:
She still needs to take a course for her VAPA (visual arts or performing arts), and probably language– though she has two years of Spanish.
Also, she’ll be reading many books from the CMEC.
Twelfth Grade
English: Honors English 12: Multicultural American Literature — spine will be from Oak Meadow’s American Literature Classics. I’ll be blending that with the anthologies and ideas from another honors course that you can find here. I shared the anthologies from that course over on YouTube. I’ll post the video to that below:
2025-2026 Literature Based Curriculum Picks Massive Unboxing part 1
https://youtu.be/TupVUX7eoQ8
Elective: AP Art History — I’ll be teaching via the audit option. We’ll be using the Gardner textbook, which she already has from a prior Art History course. We’ll also make full use of the Khan Academy APAH program.
Science: instead of taking AP Physics, I thought The CMEC’s interdisciplinary plans for senior year looked amazing, so we are doing that!
She’ll be studying:
- Physical Science & Lab Work
- Atomic Theory & Microscopy, and
- Ecology & Oceanography
History: AP U.S. History— same plan as Art History! I am hoping to be able to use the Memoria Press’s A Concise History of the American Republic plus Openstax for the final chapter. I have written a syllabus with that plan and submitted it to the College Board. I will let you all know if it gets approved! If not, I’ll pursue the full year with Openstax!
Math: Calculus I (Mr. D Math)
Social Studies/Elective: Economics via Oak Meadow! I also purchased their Anatomy & Physiology, but that was before I decided on the CMEC science plans, so I don’t know whether or how that will fit in!
I think that’s pretty much it!??!! I’m so excited about all the things we have coming up! My oldest will be applying to colleges in the fall so we are going to be slammed. I’m glad I’ve had this time to get a lot of writing done because I don’t know how much time I’ll have to sneak back here in the coming months!
If I remember anything I forgot to add in above I’ll come back and update the post. In the meantime, thanks for reading! ✌🏻
